The larger than life acrylic
canvases by Margaret Byrd Danziger are rhythmic
abstractions of meditative shapes which stir up the constant motion of
figures caught in a repetitive yet vibrant Zen. There is a feeling of
limitlessness to these canvases. Fusion of life experience with universal
energy executed through the constant of a primary palette.
A graduate of Hunter College, Danziger is a member of the Art Students
League, New York where she studied with Richard Poussett Dart. A selection
of her exhibitions includes Gallery One, Soho NY, The Queens Museum, NY and
the Museum of Fine Arts, Hempstead NY.
My work is a way of sharing what I happily discover along the way, so that
perhaps I can give people something that I have discovered for myself. In
enhancing my own life, maybe I can enhance theirs...
I began with studies in art history and study of the skeleton. I continue by
exploring painting and sculpting through senses other than my eyes. I find I
can then reveal things I truly need to express, rather than be limited by any 'prescribed' formula of expression.
For this reason, my children call me 'the Byrd'; they say I truly fly. The
inherent 'y' (Why?) demonstrates how I explore while flying.
